Perhaps the heaviest single The Cool Ruler voiced in the Roots era, Babylon Too Rough finds it’s beginnings in Dennis Brown’s Easy Take It Easy, released on Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One. Whilst Dennis’ version has an undeniably spooky vibe, the Gregory cut sounds as if it’s taken a long soak in an echo chamber, the singers vocals drenched in reverb, drums opening up like a sinkhole in the listener’s mind. One of Isaacs’ most dread-inspiring records.
