#AOTM137: Calibre – Remixes

21st January 2016WORDS: Sam Evans

To my surprise, through Calibre’s entire career as a Drum & Bass producer, not one of his original productions has ever been remixed by another artist. There’s not any other artist as prolific that has not had at least one of their tunes remixed.

“That’s happened pretty naturally and without any preconceived thought,” he explains. “I just realised after a few years that I’d never been remixed. So I decided to keep it that way.” – Calibre

He’s not even sure if there are any cheeky illicit bootlegs of his material…

“I don’t think that’s ever happened. But I wouldn’t be too bothered if I heard a bootleg,” he deliberates. “I’m not sacrosanct about these things. I’d probably find it amusing or entertaining for a while and then I’d move on. I don’t get hung up on stuff like that.” – Calibre – UKF (2014)

Thankfully his (albeit open minded) no-remix rule doesn’t work both ways. He’s been on the flip side so many times he reckons he’s had a “gut full” of remixes in the last few years. I decided to collect the few that aren’t played so much and throw them in a playlist for you to get lost in. Big up yourself, stay strong, keep the music in your ears, and the fire in your heart…
